The much-anticipated Ultrahuman Ring Pro's US debut is on hold, but why? It all boils down to a patent dispute that's causing quite a stir!
Ultrahuman, a familiar name in the world of smart wearables, has just unveiled its latest creation, the Ring Pro. This marks their first major release since the Ultrahuman Ring Air in 2023. However, for those eagerly awaiting its arrival in the United States, there's a bit of a snag. The Ring Pro hasn't been confirmed for sale in the US just yet.
For a while, Ultrahuman was a consistent favorite, even earning a spot on PCMag's coveted list of the best smart rings. But that all changed in October 2025. A ruling by the US International Trade Commission, stemming from a patent infringement case brought by Oura, put a stop to further imports of Ultrahuman rings into the US. This meant the company could only sell off its existing inventory.
But here's where it gets interesting... Ultrahuman has been hard at work redesigning the Ring Pro, aiming to navigate around these patent challenges. While it's not hitting US shelves immediately, CEO Mohit Kumar has confirmed that the new design has been submitted to US Customs and Border Protection for approval. If all goes well, we can expect the Ring Pro to launch in the US with a price tag of $479. Meanwhile, in other parts of the world, pre-orders are slated to begin shipping in early March.
The new Ring Pro boasts some impressive upgrades. One of the most significant is its battery life, which can now last an incredible 15 days on a single charge! And for those on the go, the accompanying charging case provides an additional 45 days of power. Recharging is a breeze, supporting both Qi wireless charging and a standard USB-C port.
And this is the part most people miss... Beyond the extended battery, the Ring Pro can now store your health data for a much longer period – up to 250 days. The heart rate sensing technology has also been revamped, promising more accurate readings than ever before. Under the hood, it features a more powerful dual-core processor. Plus, a new safety feature called Pro Release has been integrated, allowing the ring to be more easily removed in the event of finger swelling or injury. This is a thoughtful addition, especially considering a past incident where a smart ring's battery swelled and caused a user's finger to get stuck!
As for aesthetics, the Ring Pro comes in four stylish colors: black, gold, silver, and titanium. It's available in a wide range of sizes, from five to 14.
Ultrahuman isn't stopping there. They're also rolling out a new AI platform called Jade, accessible to all customers, including those in the US and owners of older Ultrahuman rings. This innovative tool aims to be your personal health companion, offering conversational insights derived from your smart ring's data. They're calling it the "world's first real-time biointelligence AI." Imagine being able to ask Jade how your recent blood test results might be connected to your sleep patterns, and receiving a detailed explanation and summary. It's a far cry from just looking at a dashboard of numbers!
