  • Our article dives into three new bosses shown in the trailer.
  • The final major update for Lords of the Fallen (2023) is live now, introducing substantial changes including a new Veteran Mode.

A pivotal entry in this dark fantasy series is gathering momentum. Unveiled at The Game Awards, Lords of the Fallen II (https://www.xbox.com/en-us/games/store/lords-of-the-fallen-ii/9p2wwhwd5v4v), the highly-anticipated soulslike RPG, is scheduled to release in 2026.

The trailer provides a first look at three massive bosses, a variety of fresh adversaries, refined combat, and story-driven sequences that pull players deeper into the scarred world of Axiom. The footage blends moments of torment with brutal combat, hinting at a merciless journey shaped by ruin and ready to strike back.

Bosses play a central role in Lords of the Fallen II. After watching the trailer, our breakdown covers Heartroot Warden, Koydreth, and Lingao, the Souring Storm, along with several smaller enemies you’ll encounter along the way.

Unsettling New Enemies

The trailer begins with the Dark Crusader approaching a four-armed horror whose skull is hollow and chest glows with an eternal flame. This is the Ashen Skin Stealer, a new Rhogar opponent built for duels. These inhuman hunters carve and collect human skin as trophies, though the origins of this grotesque practice remain unknown. They fight with single-minded ferocity and revel in the slaughter of their foes.

Soon after, a horned-armored knight lunges across the arena with crushing force. This is the Heartroot Warden, the first of the three bosses revealed. His assaults are relentless and heavy, powered by a chain-wrapped greatsword that punishes hesitation. Only the most honored Trelisi warriors were chosen for the sacred rite that twisted them into undying guardians, their bodies fused with enchanted armor and stripped of humanity.

A winged figure slips through a rune-etched mirror through cunning and evasion. This is Koydreth, previously the esteemed leader of the Crescent Host. Cursed for a sin so grave it reshaped him in body and spirit, he now commands the skies with a terrifying elegance, moving like a predator—both majestic and savage.

The Dark Crusader then faces a colossal draconic head. Lightning splits the sky as jaws descend. This is Lingao, the Souring Storm, the third and final boss revealed. Lingao wields the fury of the elements, controlling wind and lightning with alarming speed. His immense frame sweeps the battlefield, launching attacks from every angle.

Elsewhere, we see a player puncture a frenzied attacker with a crossbow. This is the Man of Letters, once a scholar, now a corrupted husk consumed by Umbral corruption, charging forward with reckless force.

Then appears the Hysteric, sporting a sly grin and twin axes held in elongated arms. Unpredictable and feral, their style shifts with every strike, keeping players guessing.

These adversaries are just the beginning. Each one is entwined with the histories, cultures, and tragedies that have formed Axiom. With Lords of the Fallen II, CI Games pushes enemy design further than in previous titles.

Lords of the Fallen: New Veteran Mode

Today’s update also brings the long-awaited Version 2.5, the final major patch for Lords of the Fallen. It overhauls boss, mini-boss, and enemy behavior across Mournstead in both Normal and the new Veteran Mode. Veteran Mode raises the difficulty by introducing new attack patterns, faster transitions, and more unpredictable combo sequences. Several boss weapons have been reforged with fresh signature animations.

What’s Next

In 2026, Lords of the Fallen II aims to deliver a darker, more demanding experience than anything the franchise has produced before. Enhanced combat, formidable new bosses, and a ruin-soaked world will test every player’s resolve.

For Xbox enthusiasts, this marks a significant evolution of the series, promising tougher threats, deadlier encounters, and more strategic combat for those who dare to explore Axiom’s horrors.
