The proposal outlines staffing, construction timelines, tunnel configuration, and operational aspects of the planned Loop system, which aims to connect Universal Orlando Resort's north campus to Universal Epic Universe. The Shingle Creek Transit & Utility Community Development District has voted to initiate contract negotiations with The Boring Company, recognizing them as the top bidder for the Universal Orlando transport project. The bid documents reveal a twin-tunnel configuration, with one tunnel in each direction, and indicate that permitting, design, and construction could take approximately a year and a half once approvals are secured. The company plans to deploy multiple tunnel boring machines and install temporary support infrastructure, including muck storage pits and stormwater systems, during construction. Eight internal specialists, including tunnel engineers, structural engineers, and tunnel boring machine experts, are assigned to the project, with six subcontractors handling fire protection, communications, soil treatment, and concrete work. The company asserts its capability to execute the project swiftly, emphasizing its internally produced tunneling equipment and readily available personnel. Operationally, the system will mirror the Las Vegas Loop model, utilizing Tesla vehicles for point-to-point transport instead of fixed-route buses. The proposal describes the concept as 'on-demand, express transportation,' with vehicles dispatched as needed and capacity adjustable in real-time. Stations can be constructed underground or above ground, with ramp access into the tunnels.
